Description
Celebrex is used in adults for the relief of signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. Celebrex belongs to a group of medicines called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), specifically a sub-group known as COX-2 inhibitors. It works by reducing the production of prostaglandins, which are substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation and are increased in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. By lowering prostaglandin production, Celebrex helps reduce pain and inflammation. You may notice the medicine starts working within hours of the first dose, but the full effect may take several days.
